The Puyallup Fair: Lots more for kids this year

By Madeline McKenzie
Seattle Times staff

What's your Puyallup Fair style? Are you a rodeo fan, a thrill-ride enthusiast or do you enjoy shepherding little ones through rides and the petting farm? There's about as many ways to do the Puyallup as the million folks or so folks expected to attend over its 17-day run.

There's more fair fun than ever for the younger set at the new "SillyVille" kids' area, triple the size of the old Kiddyland, with a new train and station, more rides, entertainment, animals and a food court with kids' value menu items. Other fave kid attractions include ToonzVille visits from Dora the Explorer, the Rugrats and SpongeBob SquarePants and the WB Crash The Backlot Tour (Sept. 14-17) with free Xboy gaming, prizes, costumed WB characters and snacks.

Be amused and amazed at farm animals of all sizes, 4H displays and shows, vendors hawking gadgets of all kinds, floral displays, free entertainment and collections of all sorts in the Hobby Hall. Don't miss the creative agriculture and horticulture displays, including the giant pumpkins weighed in for top honors at 3 p.m. this Friday. (More)

The Seattle Time We asked their readers about their favorite things to do at the Puyallup Fair:

• "I always head to the bunny barn to check out all the cute, fuzzy bunnies. Some are so fuzzy, you can't tell which end is which. And I always have to have a scone." — Chris Haldane, Seattle
